July 2003
June/July 2003 Stacy came to our chorus four years ago as our new director, and since then she’s made quite a splash! Stacy is choral director at Lakeside High School and that’s where we found her when we went looking for a new director. She was (and still is) young and enthusiastic and ready to learn everything she could about our unique art form. And from the very beginning she has been a blessing. Stacy first heard about our chorus from Becky Worthington whose daughter was in her high school chorus (and eventually graduated with a degree in voice…thanks to Stacy’s tutelage). For four short years she’s been our “Fearless Leader”, and in that time she’s managed to not only increase our numbers, but increase our skill. We’ve gone from a C- chorus to a strong B- and we’re now the talk of the region due to our strong showing in this year’s competition. She’s also given us a fresh new outlook on ourselves as a chorus that has won her the respect she so richly deserves. Stacy’s students have also benefited from Stacy’s new knowledge as she’s taken a lot of what she’s learned in Adelines to her work with her. Although it must be difficult for them to put up with her stories about how quickly her Adelines pick up on what she teaches them. Officially Stacy sings tenor, but as a director, she’s been known to dabble in all parts. Her favorite song that we sing is “A Bandstand in Central Park”, and when asked what she enjoys most about Adelines, she responded, “The friendships and being able to share our love for music with one another and the world.” When she’s not directing, she likes to sing, play music, watch movies and play tennis. But her favorite thing to do for fun is SWEET ADELINES! |
